The Nike Internationalist has seen its fair share of special edition releases this year, whether it be the recent “Milan Pack” offering or the Liberty x Nike Sportswear edition, but the shoe has also been straying away from the more traditional muted tones in lieu of something more immediate. The latest pair features the Hyper Cobalt shade throughout the mesh upper while suede panels on the heel and toebox get a matching Deep Royal Blue to offset the Gym Red branding.

It’s tough to keep track of all the Internationalist colorways that have released thus far, but this “PDX” Pack is one to keep an eye on as it could signify something much greater. Not much is know about the “PDX” Pack except that it features some iconic runners in high-quality suede and is inspired by Portland, which is right outside where Nike is headquartered.

The Nike Internationalist has been a bit sly with random Jordan hints lately. There’s been two Mid pairs that each reference a classic Air Jordan 1 colorway in the form of a “Shadow” and “Royal” aesthetic and now the latest pair is definitely reminiscent of Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fragment design collaboration. The classic running shoe gets a revamp thanks to a premium leather upper that allows for royal blue and black to coincide rather flawlessly. It’s a strange pairing but one that’s sure to appease anyone who needs a break from the hype or simply missed out on an Air Jordan 1 release and is struggling.

The Nike Internationalist Mid gets some special Japanese influence for the “Ekiden” pack. Inspired by the tradition of ekiden races, which are long distance relays, the two colorways of the mid-top version of the classic Nike runner feature makeovers for the Hakone Ekiden event this January. The two colorways with woodgrain-textured paneling come in your choice of a woody brown, tan, and dark ash combination or a decidedly darker look in Drk Ash and Anthracite.

Did you pick up any pairs of Nike Internationalist this year? If the answer is no, let the record state it’s not because you didn’t have chances. The resurgent silhouette has released in a wide assortment of colorways this year. Further, the model was introduced in its new mid form, a popular cut that allows for heightened functionality as temperatures decrease. Following its participation in the heralded “Escape” pack, a new Internationalist Mid enters the fold, bearing similarities to the “Escape” release yet noted with clear distinction. Firstly, a distinguishing characteristic is made at the tongue where an intriguing graphic finds placement. Below we find a generously color blocked base married to plush fabrication and tonal laces.
